Design Philosophy & Areas of Interest

In a generation driven by the speed of technology when we race between images embedded in text messages and emails to which we only give enough time to read the first two lines, Sculpt Architects seeks to engage with clients who are interested in a more human-paced process that allows the necessary space and time for meaningful dialogue about the substantive things that drive and shape each of us and our communities.

Our focus is on enduring architecture that stands the test of time because of the quality and care infused into the process. From conceptualization to completion, we seek to honor the value of human energy that is transferred to quality buildings through the process of construction. We accomplish this by employing a concierge-approach to relationships, careful sourcing of construction methods and materials, and demanding honesty and respect from ourselves and all team members – client to laborer.

Having grown up in Southern California, we are keenly aware of beauty – both superficial and natural. We explore the line that exists between surface and substance; where the outer world and inner world collide and how minimally shelter can be defined, while still being effective. We believe that true beauty is visible thru nature and borne only of the divine creator. By observing and learning from nature, as designers we become vehicles thru which more beautiful and responsive architecture may exist.
