Leslie Colasse
Leslie Colasse is a California Licensed Architect with over 30 years of experience in construction-related design, permitting, and management. The projects that she has designed and/or managed range from custom single-family residences to complex multi-million dollar state-of-the-art hospitals, pharmaceutical processing plants, and laboratory buildings.
Leslie earned her Bachelors of Architecture degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1992. Upon returning home to Santa Barbara, she took a position with a custom cabinetry and millwork manufacturer before completing her internship with a well-respected local architect. In 1995 she established her own firm, concentrating primarily on custom residential remodels and commercial tenant improvements for the hospitality industry. In 2007 Leslie elected to pursue an opportunity with a Marina Del Rey based architecture firm to work on the construction of a new state-of-the-art hospital in Santa Barbara. This would be the beginning of a fourteen-year journey and education into complex project delivery and management.
Born and raised in California, Leslie prides herself on her ability to work with and galvanize groups from varied backgrounds and disciplines in order to achieve successful project outcomes. She is tri-lingual and is as comfortable in a pair of dress shoes presenting before design review boards and development-oriented groups as she is in a pair of flip flops at the beach, or work boots on a job site.
In an effort to give back and help ensure the enduring beauty of the town that she grew up in, Leslie currently serves on the City of Santa Barbara’s Single Family Design Review Board. In her spare time, she enjoys working with her partner to rehabilitate their modest post-war home, watching her son surf, hiking, camping, gardening, cooking, beach walks, making art, and most importantly – time with friends and family.
In the end a building stands alone. The quality (or lack thereof) is palpable and dependent upon the care and craftsmanship that is taken by those who shape it–during both design and construction. The inherent nature of all those that touch a building and its components ultimately become a part of its essence. Much like an orchestra, the end performance is only successful with strong team members and leaders who share and commit to the common vision.
